Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment for the scalp is an innovative, non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who require stimulation of hair growth for hair loss conditions. PRP is a concentration derived from your own blood that carries a large amount of bioactive proteins, including growth factors that are crucial to initiating and accelerating tissue repair and regeneration. During the procedure, your blood is drawn and then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from the other components of the blood. The PRP is then injected into the areas of the scalp that need treatment. Dr. Arash Akhavan was one of the first physicians to offer PRP injections for the scalp to his patients in New York City.
AnteAGE is a newer procedure we offer to our patients. AnteAGE is a solution made of high concentrations of growth factors isolated from bone marrow cells grown in a lab. AnteAGE has a higher concentration of useful growth factors than PRP.
The main benefit of PRP treatments is the ability to utilize your body's natural healing mechanisms to revive hair follicles that have slowed down or stopped producing hair, resulting in thicker, fuller hair. As a non-surgical solution, PRP therapy for hair loss offers virtually no downtime. The PRP is injected into the scalp with a very thin needle.
This procedure can treat various areas of the scalp and is suitable for both men and women. It is primarily used to treat androgenetic alopecia (a common form of hair loss in both men and women), but it may also be effective in treating other forms of hair loss.
AnteAGE MD Scalp Growth Factor Solution works in the same way but with growth factors that are introduced to scalp wit medical microneedling.
There is no recovery associated with either procedure. Treatments are done 4 weeks apart. Follow up treatments after the initial series of 4 are done once every 4 months.
For PRP, your blood is drawn and processed and the PRP is isolated. The PRP is then injected into scalp using very thin needles.
For AnteAGE MD Scalp treatment the scalp is numbed with a topical numbing spray. The AnteAGE growth factors are then microneedled into the scalp.
